About Beykoz :
Beykoz also known as Beicos and Beikos, is a district in Istanbul, Turkey along the Bosphorus at the northern end of Anatolian side of Istanbul. It has a very unique character which is hard to find in other districts. While you are in Beykoz, you can feel as if you are far away from a big city, in an old fishing town where life is calm and peaceful.
Beykoz is close to Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge which is also known as second bridge.
Kavacık is the neighbourhood where bridge ends. You may see tall office blocks, cafes, restaurants like all other places of Istanbul but if you drive only 10 min away from centre, you’ll see that Beykoz has something different.
Beykoz includes everything from the streams of Küçüksu and Göksu (just before Anadolu Hisarı Castle ) up to the opening of the Bosphorus into the Black Sea, and the villages in the hinterland as far as the Riva creek. This is one of the most pleasant and peaceful districts of Istanbul, with much greenery still intact.
In Beykoz city center itself there is a large park on the hillside (Beykoz Korusu), and a number of attractive Ottoman fountains. The town centre also has a village feel to it, with smallish, aging buildings, many of them houses rather than blocks of flats, especially on the hills that climb up away from the coast.
Being far from city infrastructure, natural gas and fast internet is taking time to arrive, but the general peacefulness of neighbourly relations and the possibility of a Bosphorus view more than compensate.Beyond Beykoz, there are large areas of forested countryside.
